Research Team
The Research Team for Tribal Empowerment Network consists of the following
members:
Dr. Amita Shah - Acting Director and Professor
Amita Shah, an economist, has wide ranging experience of conducting research on various aspects of rural economy. The major areas of research interest include, natural resource development with special focus on dry land agriculture and forestry,
environmental impact assessment, gender and environment, agriculture-industry interface, small scale and rural industries, diffusion of technologies, and employment-livelihood issues. More recently, she has been involved in a number of studies
pertaining to participatory watershed development, protected area management, economic valuation of bio-diversity, chronic poverty in remote rural areas, migration and status of women in agriculture. Over the past 17 years she has worked closely
with a number of government and non-government organisations and participated in an informed process of policy formulation. She has also been a consultant to various donor agencies and has undertaken collaborative research both within and outside India.
She has published about 40 research papers in professional journals and books; and participated in a number of academic seminars. She has been invited as a Visiting Fellow to academic institutions in United Kingdom, China, France and Netherlands.

Dr. R. Parthasarthy
R. Parthasarathy has both research and teaching interests. His research
interests are in two broad inter-related categories. In the first, he explores
relations between natural resource management and distributions of power,
leadership, economic development and impacts of policy and development
organizations. In the second, he explores how economic and social concepts, the
organization of knowledge and scientific research affect public discourse about
and actions toward environmental problems. During the past ten years, he has
been engaged in studies on Irrigation Management Transfer programmes set up by
the governments and NGOs.

Dr. Jharna Pathak - Assistant Professor
Dr. Jharna Pathak did her Ph.D. in economics from the Gujarat University. She
also received GIDR-FORD fellowship to pursue her Ph.D. Her research interests
include water pricing and management, policy analysis on agriculture and
economic development with an emphasis on critical water issues, and
environmental and natural resource economics.

Mr. Rudra Narayan Mishra - Associate Faculty
Mr. Rudra Narayan Mishra is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in economics, through
the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His research focus examines the
issue of nutritional deprivation. His areas of study include under-nutrition,
poverty, health, food security, education and human development.

Mr. Harish Joshi - Research Assistant
Mr. Harish Joshi has done his MA (Sociology) from Gujarat University. He has
worked on a number of projects related to water management and agricultural
economics. He has worked on issues connected with water management, skills
training and tribal development during the course of his professional career.

Ms. Radhika Shah - Moderator
Ms. Radhika Shah has done her post-graduate course in Social Communications from
Mumbai. She has undertaken content development assignments for several
government and non-government organisations. The social sector issues she has
worked with include tribal development, rural development, water and sanitation,
agriculture and environment.

Mr. Rajeev Rawal - Network Administrator
Mr. Rajeev Rawal has done his B.Sc. Electronics from Mumbai University. He has
worked on a number of projects related to Satellite Communications,
TeleCommunications, and Server-Client base large computer network environments
having different technologies.

Mr. Bharat Adhyaru - Data Entry Operator
Mr. Bharat Adhyaru has done his B.Com from Gujarat University. He is trained in
Fox Pro programming from ACT and has attended the data entry course from
Rollwala Computer Centre, Gujarat University. He has experience in data
analysis.
